Everything in the natural world is made up of yin and yang, especially humans.  In today’s face paced, always connected yang world, it’s often challenging to find balance.  By nurturing the yin aspects of your life and body you can help to create more ease,  balance and perhaps more harmony.
Your life experiences shape how you view the world, how you operate in your daily life and under stress which in turn influences how you live in your body, your posture, breath, levels of stress and even your thoughts.
When we experience stress our very yang sympathetic nervous system takes charge.  When we are relaxed, our yin parasympathetic nervous system is engaged.
Our yang muscles love to move repetitively, to get the blood pumping and generate warmth.  Our ligaments, tendons and fascia prefer the longer, quieter yin holds that coax these tissues to become stronger and more pliable and allow for more range of motion.
Even our subtle energetic body has fiery channels and cooler channels.   The key to balance is nurturing all aspects.
In this whole-body Yin practice, you will hold posture each for 4-5 minutes, just on your edge of resistance.  Think of these postures as an opportunity to have a conversation with the issues in your tissues, gently asking for more space.  The time spent in each posture can be a mini meditation, offering time to get in touch with your breath, quiet your mind, sooth your nervous system and nurture that balance.
This workshop is appropriate for all levels of ability.  If you have your own props, please bring them.
